Vale Dr Junaid Khan.
With enormous sadness I announce that we have lost a much loved member of our Practice Family this week. Dr Junaid Khan lost his life climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with 9 of his best mates while on an overseas break from his role as one of our full time GPs at Hope Island General Practice. From what I understand, due to an incident on the climb, Junaid’s condition suddenly deteriorated. His mates attempted to carry him back down but he succumbed to the conditions and passed away before being able to get to the help that he needed. An enormous shock to all who were there.
I know that Junaid had planned this trip for some time and we never expected that when we said goodbye to him that we would not see him back in the practice again. He was universally popular with all of his co-workers and patients. He was charming, cheeky, engaging and professional all in one. His smile could light up a room and was often used to encourage you to help him with almost anything from assisting him in his paper work to gaining a cup of coffee. He always returned any favour with warmth and an affectionate spirit and always made you feel special in his eyes. Junaid leaves behind his beautiful wife Alia and his “two little princesses”. The enormity of their loss cannot be expressed and their journey of grief has only just begun. We at the practice grieve too and have felt such loss. Each of us are experiencing pain differently but will likely never endure what his family will because we were only blessed to be a short part of his life, they were everything that his life was for.
Goodbye my friend I will miss you. The team who you leave behind will never be the same without you and will miss you too. How we are all feeling now reflects what you meant to us and those feelings truly mean it would seem to be quite a lot!

‘Tis the season for fun and cheer, with a little bit of training thrown in!
But first, the important stuff – Our Christmas opening hours!
In late November our Nursing team brushed up on their plastering skills along with a few victims, I mean, volunteers. You can see by the photos how much they hated it!
Earlier this month we let our hair down and celebrated another big year! This years festivities began at the Q1 Skypoint where our Senior Nurse, Santa, handed out the pressies. And then off to the fabulous De Vito Waterfront in Southport, for a delectable feast and non-stop entertainment from the beautiful Tarscha and David De Vito.
Lastly, we want to take this time, from our My Healthcity Family to you and yours, to wish you a Christmas time that is happy and safe and filled with love and laughter. We thank you for your continued support and for choosing us as your preferred healthcare provider and look forward to looking after your healthcare needs in the New Year.
Healthy You. Healthy Family. Happy Life.
